The Oomph has been specifically engineered to create a perfect coffee on every brew. To ensure smooth coffee you need a smooth-running Oomph – that’s why we have put together this guide to our most frequently asked questions. If you find you are experiencing problems with your Oomph coffee maker, there is often a quick and simple fix.
Please take a look through the relevant sections below. If you do not find what you need or have further questions please email email@example.com
How Does the Oomph Work?
Please see the video below for a quick run through of how to use the Oomph. For more detailed instructions view the Oomph instruction booklet here.
How Do I Clean My Oomph Coffee Maker?
Please see the video below for how to clean the Oomph quickly and easily. For a deep clean, the Oomph can be fully dismantled (see below) and is fully dishwasher safe.
Can the Oomph be Dismantled?
The Oomph is made up of eleven constituent parts, most of which are designed to be removed for deep cleaning and easy maintenance. Please see the video for how to dismantle and reconstruct your Oomph.
Why is my Oomph Leaking?
The Oomph is not designed to be upturned when full. The primary purpose of the Oomph is to brew coffee to perfection in a range of settings. Owing to the pressure that builds up within the device there has to be an outlet so at this stage it is impossible to make the Oomph entirely water tight. In other words, in designing the Oomph we were chasing coffee perfection, rather than a mediocre coffee press/thermos combination. The Oomph has gone on to prove itself as one of the most popular portable coffee brewers available on the market.
If you find that your Oomph is leaking from BENEATH the lid when pouring, then you will first need to check that every part is correctly assembled and screwed together to form a tight seal. Please see the components section above for guidance. If you have gone through this step and unwanted leaking continues, you will need to check that the black gasket seals are correctly located and have not become twisted during the plunging process. Please see the video below for guidance.
Why won’t my Outer Casing Lock?
The most common cause of not being able to lock your Oomph is a result of a dislocated ‘L’ Seal (see Components section for details). Don’t worry, this is easily fixed. Watch the video below to see how to ensure the seal is correctly seated.
What Grind Size Should I use in the Oomph?
The Oomph can handle any coffee grind size. For consistent results we recommend using a cafetiere grind. If you prefer to use a smaller grind size, such as an espresso grind, please reduce the amount of coffee and water accordingly. A large amount of finely ground coffee could prevent the Oomph from plunging properly.
To get the most out of your favourite blend, experiment with coffee and water ratios and use the Oomph’s Variable Strength Control feature to dial in on your perfect flavour. Check out the video below to see how.
Why are there Grinds in my Coffee?
If you are finding that ground coffee is getting into your finished coffee, firstly, please check that grounds are not entering the Oomph’s drinking chamber via the holes at the top of the inner chamber when preparing your Oomph. Once you have ruled this out as the cause of the problem, please try reducing the amount of water you use to brew. Always ensure that you do not fill to over the Max Water Fill line. An intact filter will not allow ground coffee to escape into the liquid so if you continue to experience this issue please check your filter for damage.
